The Original Ingham Method in Reflexology® Bridging course for Professionals
Teacher: Lilian Gautheron
EDiREFLEX presented for the first time in Spain, Bridging course of the Original Ingham Method ® of Reflexology for Professionals accredited by the International Institute of Reflexology
On the weekend of May the 16th of the Bridging course for Professionals of the Original Ingham Method of Reflexology began with an attendance of seven people.
The students were trained in a method that has been taught for over 65 years at the IIR, including new techniques invented or updated continuously by Dwight Byers, Eunice Ingham's nephew.
It is the historical method in Western Reflexology was developed by Eunice Ingham in the 30s. She dedicated her entire life to the study of this technique; among other things she is responsible for the map that bears her name
The course, aimed at reflexologists with basic training, was quite intensive and one of the most interesting parts of this training was the technique itself, with its specific manipulations and protocols, unique to this method. One of the other issues highlighted in this formation was the special attention of the therapist's working position and the most effective way to hold the foot.

VRT – Vertical Reflex Therapy Booth method
Teacher: Lynne Booth creator of the method
On 20th-21st. June 2009 Lynne Booth was welcomed to Edireflex to present a two day course on Vertical Reflex Therapy. The first day was the basic course and the second day more advanced techniques were learnt.
Lynne Booth is a qualified reflexologist with many years experience. In 1998 she was awarded an honorary fellowship in Advanced Reflexology Techniques for services to reflexology. She has spent many years developing this therapy whilst working with the elderly and chronically sick. She regularly lectures on VRT in Britain and around the world.
VRT is a new and advanced technique which can be used in conjunction with traditional reflexology or as a short effective treatment on its own. Traditional reflexology is normally practiced with the client lying down in a relaxed position, whereas VRT concentrates on working on the feet whilst in a weight bearing position gaining additional benefits and effectiveness from working on the deeper reflexes. VRT approaches the plantar reflexes via the dorsal area.
The theory of the effectiveness of VRT is that the body in this vertical position is more alert with the heart pumping oxygenated blood to the organs thus increasing vitality. VRT is useful in the treatment of a range of problems including orthopaedic ailments, asthma, and irritable bowel syndrome.
During the second day the group was introduced to the concept of Synergistic Reflexology which is simultaneously working two corresponding reflexes one in the hand and one in the foot. This can produce more instant and effective results.
The course was well attended with 19 reflexologists taking advantage of the wealth of new knowledge and the opportunity to practice the new skills .The room was charged with energy and enthusiasm and the weekend was a great success.

Precision reflexology
Teacher: Jan Williamson
On 21 and November 22, 2009 I participated in the first module of the post-graduate course of Precision Reflexology taught by Jan Williamson and organized by EDIREFLEX.
They were two very intensive days of training, where we were taught some of the history of Precision Reflexology and lots of practical work in which we acquired a new reflexology tool that could be defined as intuitive, powerful, creative, and giving the reflexologist freedom of action. With the linking technique a light pressure is used because we are working with the subtle energy allowing the body achieve balance, if you use too much pressure the link is not defined and the energy doesn´t flow, instead we hold the links as if it were a feather. The focus is on a feeling of relaxation, it allows for creativity, with Precision Reflexology we are working with the true nature of the person and their own energy is used to bring balance, the client directs the treatment not the therapist.
So far we have worked 8 links: solar plexus, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, pituitary adrenal jaw neck, lumbar 5 to hip, sacrum frontal brain, stimulating reflex points on the plantar and dorsal foot simultaneously with the thumb or middle finger of each hand, and we will complete the course with another 8 links in the second module to be held on 15 and 16 May 2010
Precision Reflexology, is called precision not because the reflex points are precise but when we apply the links a precise response is given. It is a therapy stimulating the vital energy of the receiver, which acts at all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, bringing a holistic approach to reflexology. Precision techniques are used by adding the links into your conventional reflexology session when working a specific area on the foot. Its benefits are many from rheumatic diseases, imbalances in the endocrine system, it works the parasympathetic nervous system, etc ...
For me, particularly when applying the links I feel the energy between the two fingers I use, with varying intensity, and when I have received the linking techniques I have felt a special feeling between relaxing and liberation. I have also been applying the links in my reflexology sessions and the general comment from my clients of their experience is also that of "relaxation and well being". I'm waiting for May with anticipation so that I can continue learning this technique.
